English Department (Portfolio Review Panel)
California State University Northridge
18111 Nordhoff Street
Northridge, CA 91330

Dear portfolio review panel,

Over this past spring semester I have come to learn more than what I had expected. I believe I have not only grown as a writer and student, but as a person as well. My writing has improved throughout this semester and I am positive it will only continue to flourish.  I have put effort and patience into these assignments, trying to make them as perfect as possible. The English 114B portfolio presented to this review panel is to obtain a satisfactory and passing grade in my English 114B course this spring semester, allowing me to be able to progress into higher levels of English courses in this university.

Some may see my writing as an average freshman college student; however, I believe my writing is capable to stand out among others because I am able to incorporate rhetoric in my writing. For example, my writing is capable of persuading a reader. This is because I use counter-arguments as well as evidence to get my point across. This also helps to prevent my arguments to lean on a bias angle. I could also incorporate different information into my writing and maintain it within the genre assigned, relevant, and of course, professional. Additionally, I try my best to fulfill the objective and answer all parts of the prompt assigned as best as possible. One of the tools I have gained throughout my English career is to always have a three-part thesis in all my essays. I find this useful and try to have one in all my writing assignments.

I am positive that the writing assignments in my English 114B portfolio will give you a greater understanding of the level of writing I am capable of. I greatly appreciate this panel for taking the time to look over my English 114B portfolio. I will be looking forward to see your response to my work.

Have a lovely day.

Sincerely,

Rosie Lopez
